At your service

If you could chose one word to describe yourself what would it be? Apparently, the word to describe me is
servant.

serv·ant
ˈsərvənt/
noun

1. a person who performs duties for others, esp. a person employed in a house on domestic duties or as a personal attendant. synonyms: attendant, retainer; a person employed in the service of a government. a devoted and helpful follower or supporter. “a tireless servant of God”

synonyms: helper, supporter, follower More

That is how my 6-year-old would describe me. He came up with this lovely little title at the dinner table. We were eating, well, they were eating. I don’t ever get to eat an entire meal with my family because the moment I sit down someone wants something else. I have forgotten what hot food even tastes like. “Can I have more juice.” “I need another napkin.” It never ends. On Monday night my 6-year-old wanted more bread. He said, “Please” in the sweetest voice. I smiled as I walked over to the counter to grab another slice. I mentally patted myself on the back. Man, I have raised such polite children. Then my son said, “Mom, it’s like your my own personal servant.” I stopped dead in my tracks. What the what? To quote the late and great Whitney Houston, “Oh, hell to the no.” I gave him the lecture of a lifetime. His future wife will thank me someday.
