I love this story. I love it because it wasn’t supposed to be covered on the news. The photograph wasn’t sent out by a public relations firm. A tourist caught this moment on camera. In the photograph, Larry Deprimo, a rookie NYPD officer, is kneeling beside a homeless man. Officer Deprimo noticed the man was barefoot in frigid temperatures. The man told the officer, “I never had a pair of shoes.” So, Officer Deprimo went to a store and shelled out nearly $100 to buy him shoes and socks. A rookie NYPD officer doesn’t make much more than that in a day. I am going to tell my children the story. Then, print out the photograph and put it on our bulletin board as a reminder to do what is right. Officer Deprimo is a hero because he didn’t expect to be one.
Actions speak louder than words. God Love this young man for his love of mankind…
