    “Why do you keep kissing me?” my 5-year-old giggled before he left for school this morning. I had a pit in my stomach and wanted him to stay home. I couldn’t tell him. He doesn’t know about the children in Connecticut. My son still thinks school is a safe, fun place and that is how it should be. We cannot live in fear. We can grieve for the innocent children and adults murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I think about those babies every time I look at mine.   • Heartbreaking

    My heart is racing watching the news of a mass shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut. There are reports of at least 26 people dead including 20 children. It it beyond comprehension how anyone could do something like this. I volunteered in my 5-year-old’s classroom yesterday. At this age children are so innocent. They take joy in things we take for granted. I can’t stop thinking about how scared the children inside the Connecticut school must have been. Were they coloring, learning the alphabet, or reading a story when this monster entered the school? We drop our children off at school and trust they will be safe. I am…
